Today, Odense Congress Center is a company, which offers a wide variety of opportunities and experiences of every kind, from conferences, meetings and seminars to trade fairs, exhibitions and concerts and hotel, restaurant and catering.
The history of Odense Congress Center begins in 1978, however, when Fyns Forum in the centre of Odense closed. This left Odense without a conference centre and in the beginning of the 1980’s the planning of a new Fyns Forum began.
As a result, the new Fyns Forum was inaugurated at Ørbækvej in 1982. The new Fyns Forum was an instant success, with numerous exhibitions and concerts. The great success meant that Fyns Forum expanded, adding another exhibition hall to the building in 1986.
In 1989, Odense Congress Center was built next to Fyns Forum. The congress centre added both a hotel and conference facilities to Ørbækvej and soon Odense Congress Center and Fyns Forum were united under the name Odense Congress Center A/S.
This was in 1992. Only one year later, the whole of Denmark turned its attention towards Odense when Odense Congress Center hosted the Danish finals of the Eurovision Song Contest. During the following years, Odense Congress Center established itself through innumerable well-visited trade fairs, exhibitions, conferences and concerts.
In 2006, Odense Congress Center reached a significant milestone when the company merged with Odense Boldklub to form Odense Sport & Event, with the ambition to become the Southern Denmark region’s major provider of unique moments.
One year later, Odense Sport & Event opened Denmark’s most modern multi arena, Arena Fyn, adjacent to Odense Congress Center. Arena Fyn provided unlimited possibilities for great experiences and the arena can be used for concerts, sports events, ice skating shows and much more.
Entering its fourth decade, Odense Congress Center offers more and bigger experiences to its guests than ever before.
